This week in Las Vegas is DEFCON 17 . DEFCON is the conference to be at if you are a hacker or wannabe. DEFCON begins on July 31st and runs through August 2nd at the Riviera Hotel. The show has many speakers such as Adam Savage from "The Myth Busters" tv show, many classes and special interest areas. One of the special areas is the "Hardware Hacking Village". The Hardware Hacking Village was created by Ryan "Lost Boy" Clarke and will teach hardware related issues, including soldering. SchmartBoard has fabricated some special boards for Parallax and their Propeller system and the Hardware Hacking Village that will be given to participants in this area. I spoke to Ryan this morning, who is already in Las Vegas setting up, and he told me that despite the economy, it looks like te show is going to be extremely well attended. Although we all know what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, attendees of the Hardware Hacking Village will come home with a pretty cool looking souvenir.
Ryan and I sold out on all of our HHV kits using this board, but for those attendees that only got the board itself, you can buy the parts directly from Parallax and still have a complete kit. What a great way to learn surface mount soldering.

A very good article. Have you ever done a Rapidshare Search ( http://www.filecatch.com/trends/sk/13-07-2010.html ) before? I recommend to try it.
